Veege Ruediger, CPM LDM
(She/her) | Midwife, Herbalist
Jessica "Veege" Ruediger first began attending births in Southern Oregon at the age of 18, in 1996, as an apprentice and student midwife. In 2003, she earned a BA in Women's Reproductive Lives: Biology, Evolution, and Culture from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. During her time in Washington, she also completed Postpartum Doula training at Seattle Midwifery School. She returned to the Rogue Valley to start a family, where both of her daughters were born at home.
She spent the next several years practicing the fine art of balancing parenting two young children with midwifery training, attending home births as an apprentice and later, as an assistant midwife. In the summer of 2010, she interned at Mercy Maternity Center in Davao City, Philippines. She received her national midwifery certification in 2011, to become a Certified Professional Midwife. She was voted one of southern Oregon's favorite midwives in Oregon Healthy Living of 2011.
In 2011 she co-founded Oak Grove Midwifery, a group midwifery practice serving Southern Oregon. After obtaining her Oregon State License of Direct Entry Midwifery in August of 2013, she founded Moonstone Midwifery as a solo practice. After over a decade of running a business by herself, she has excitedly returned to the idea of a group practice, establishing a supportive and unique midwifery partnership with Caitlin Maddigan.
The good stuff
Veege is often tending to the flowers in her garden, or getting down to live music. She escapes to the coast at every opportunity, loves coffee and cats, and is likely listening to a podcast at this very moment. Her children are mostly grown, so she is launching into that second half of life with better boundaries, a new purpose, and a mature dis-taste for self-sacrifice.

Veege's first exposure to the word “midwife” came from reading Our Bodies, Ourselves, by the Boston Women’s Health Collective, as a teenager. Veege has since been convinced that a feminist perspective is an essential component of compassionate health care. Choosing if, how, and where to give birth are reproductive rights. Believing that a physiologic birth is the safest birth, Veege knows a sense of safety, respect for intimacy, and an experienced support team contribute to good outcomes in maternity care. Evidence shows that low intervention is the best practice for low-risk pregnancy and birth; midwives have known this for centuries.
Childbirth is a powerful rite of passage, whether it's your first baby or last. Every parent desires and deserves a healthy baby and a safe journey through this transition. Veege believes in a woman and child's right to a safe, empowering, and joyful birth experience.
